When my mom told me that we were going to be in charge of planning my future sister-in-law’s bridal shower, I couldn’t wait! I love to plan parties and entertain and if I could do it all over again, I have pursued that as a career. But because I didn’t, I like to go all out when I get the chance!
My SIL loves pink and gold so although those aren’t the wedding colors, we decided to go with those colors for the shower. Which of course was right up my alley because those are the colors of my office. Well at one point they were 🙂 So I had a lot of stuff we could use for the shower which was a win-win for everyone.
She had seen this “Let Love Grow” somewhere on Pinterest so my mom got an old ladder from a friend, painted it white, and then picked up the white boards from Home Depot. She asked them to cut them different lengths and then painted the exposed, rough edges.
They got all of the pots at Walmart and then spray painted them pink with gold glitter. And then picked up plants at a local nursery. So each guest got to leave with a plant!
My mom was able to rent the chairs, tablecloths, and runners, and because it was so windy that day, we’re glad she went with cloth. Plus it looked a lot nicer than paper or plastic. She purchased a bunch of mason jars at a garage sale and then used spray chalk paint to color them pink. The flowers came from her yard so that was super easy too!
I found these games at Target in their Dollar Spot section. Too many games can be overkill so we just had the guests play Bingo while she opened gifts (they filled in the spots beforehand) and He said , She said. We asked my brother and his fiance the answers to the questions ahead of time and the guests answered who they thought did each thing first.
For the Bingo prizes, we wrapped up Bath and Body Works lotion, hand creme, and body mist. We had 10 prizes and quickly went through them all!
A friend of ours got married last fall and gave us these chalkboard frames to use. I’m pretty sure she just spray painted them gold and used chalkboard paint. So many of these items can be found at antique or thrift stores! And to me, finding everything and putting it all together is half the fun.
My SIL requested a wine bar so wine bar she was going to receive. I ordered these wine glasses off Amazon; plastic to avoid them getting broken or having to wash 50 wine glasses, but still super cute and classy.
I wanted the bridesmaid to have a special glass for the day so I made these DIY glitter wine glasses.
DIY Wine Glasses:
I purchased the glasses from the Dollar Tree.
I washed them with soap and water. (I hand dried them and then let them air dry completely)
I cleaned them with alcohol and a cotton ball. (Wait until they’re completely dry!)
I let that dry for 30 minutes and then painted another layer of Mod Podge and another layer of glitter.
I repeated that step one more time and then sprayed it with Krylon Glitter Blast in Clear to keep it from flaking off.
I put a piece of tulle around the brides and voila! I would not recommend putting these through a dishwasher but hand washing should be fine!
She ordered the balloon off Amazon and painted a pallet white. Then purchased the flowers at a craft store and just attached them to the pallet. Super easy but so cute!
We added fresh fruit, cheese and crackers, and of course, wine! And the wine bar was ready to roll 🙂
The desserts were AMAZING and all handmade by a friend of mine from high school. She has done birthdays, baby showers, baptisms, this, and soon their wedding for me! If you’re near Cleveland and ever need someone, let me know and I will pass on her info!
It was such an amazing day showering my future SIL and brother with love. The food was great, the day was beautiful, and seeing them so happy was obviously all worth it.
