I’m sharing #JOHNSONS in my life as part of a JOHNSON’S® sponsored series for Socialstars™
One of the first things we worry about as new parents is how our babies are going to sleep. All kids are different; some kids sleep a few hours right off the bat while others are up every two hours (ahem mine…). And as they get older, their sleeping pattens can change too. My son has always been a great sleeper but my daughter on the other hand, pretty much gave up sleeping somewhere before her first birthday. She would nap but when it came to nighttime, she was up late and up early. Party animal!
I will be 100% honest, my kids never really had a strict bedtime routine. And maybe that played some part in their sleeping habits. But with all the moving we’ve done, my husband’s unpredictable work schedule, and the fact that our life has just always been super chaotic, it kept us from getting on a routine and sticking with it. But we’ve managed to make it work the best we can given our lifestyle, which is anything from traditional.
But I’ve realized that’s okay. That the way we’re doing things is what works for us. We’ve always loved the JOHNSON’S® 3- Step Bedtime Routine, which is the only clinically proven routine to help baby fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
JOHNSON’S® 3 Step BEDTIME Routine
Step 1: Warm Bath
Step 2: Baby Massage
Step 3: Quiet Time
Our kids get baths, we read a few stories, and then my oldest goes upstairs for bed. My daughter is still co-sleeping with us so she’s a little harder to get to sleep. My son co-slept with us until he was two and although it’s not for everyone, it worked for us. My daughter literally snuggles up in my chest with her arms around me to go to sleep. And moments like that are the moments that I’ll remember forever. The moments where I realized it’s okay if my kids aren’t on a schedule like Susie’s kids from next door.
They’re only this small for so long and I’m starting to realize the moments right before bed are some of my favorites. The crazy busy days sometimes make me just that, crazy. But the quiet moments tickling their backs or reading to them and seeing their faces light up in excitement just makes my heart so happy.
