comparison is the thief of joy

Well hello Friday… nice to see you! Another week and it’s time for another weekend. Time flies even quicker as you get older and it sucks. And when you have kids, it moves even quicker. You don’t notice yourself aging as much as you notice your kids hitting another milestone or accomplishing something new. You’re literally watching time fly before your eyes. It’s crazy y’all, mind blown…

I’ve been getting deep around these parts recently, and I’m not entirely sure why. I guess I’ve just got a lot of things on my mind and this is the best place to dump them. If one person can relate, then it’s a good thing, right? But I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching and thinking, and one in particular thing has stood out recently.

Let’s just flat out say it…comparison is evil. We can be feeling total confident about ourselves, our career, our success, whatever. But then we see someone else get an opportunity or do something better and we think crap, maybe we aren’t doing so well. And my question is WHY DO WE DO THAT?! This world is HUGE and there are so many opportunities to be had. If we don’t like something, we have the power to change it. If we want something, we have the power to go get it. So why do we sit and compare ourselves to others? How they look, how they live, how they dress, anything. We all do it and although I wish we could just snap our fingers and stop, it’s easier said than done.

Often times we don’t even mean to do it. But a tiny thought will pop into our heads and then our self doubt takes over. We think “they’re doing it better” or “I never looked like that” or “I should have done that instead”. Being proud of yourself and what you do is an amazing feeling…so don’t allow yourself to discredit yourself. You’re amazing and what YOU do and YOU’RE beautiful in your own way. You’re successful, you’re creative, you’re a good mom and wife… You’re enough. I swear the day we stop comparing ourselves to other people is the day we lose half of our stress in life. Whether or not you think you compare yourself to others, you probably do without even knowing it. SO let’s make a conscious effort to knock that off. Let’s worry about ourselves and get to where we want to be. I have a feeling it will make life a lot easier…

This weekend is jam packed with goodness! We are updating our family pictures tonight in the cotton fields (YAY!) and then heading to Oktoberfest on post. Z was deployed last year and it was really overwhelming to be there alone with the kids. So I’m glad he’s home this year and we can spend some time together as a family and with our friends. Then tomorrow… tomorrow is going to be crazy exciting as I attend College Fashion Week in Atlanta on behalf of FIAT! They’ll be picking me up and taking me to the event and I am so excited! Make sure you follow me on Snapchat (samantha_show) and Instagram for behind the scenes updates 🙂

Hope you have a great weekend dolls… see you Monday! xo
