If my husband and I find the time to actually go out on a date, it usually means I had about five minutes to get ready right before he walks through the door. Either that or while he occupies the kids so I can sneak out to the car and do my makeup in there. Because of that, my makeup looks usually take about five minutes or less.
Whether you’re transitioning from the office to happy hour or mom sweats to high heels, I’ve broken down my makeup routine so you can see what I use and how I do it! All of these items were purchased at Walmart, so you can pick them up next time you’re there!
Foundation: I’m usually pretty iffy on new foundations because I think it’s really hard to find a good one and for a reasonable price. And typically, I have to put powder or a mineral finish on top of it because it’s a little “wet” or gives my face an oily look. Believe me when I say this, this Stay Matte by Rimmel London is FABULOUS. The photos aren’t retouched at all… this foundation is just that good! No need for powder here 🙂
Eye shadow: I usually stick between a neutral brown shadow or a soft smoky eye. For this look, I went with a brown. I start by brushing my entire eyelids, and then the crease while keeping my eye open. I then close my eyes and brush into the crease. To blend, I use my fingers and rub it all the way up to my brow.
Eyeliner: If I’m going out, I will spring for a little more eyeliner than my normal daytime look. I hold my eyelid down and gently brush the inside of my eyelid. Next, I’ll line the outside of my eye on the bottom. For the top, I usually just do it halfway in. If it comes on too thick, use your finger or a Q-tip to lighten the line.
Mascara: I loved this Scandaleyes Retro Glam mascara! I’m not a mascara snob but seriously, drugstore mascara always seems to give me the best results. I apply my mascara two different ways; first, I blink onto the brush while brushing upwards and next, I move the brush side to side while brushing upwards. This separates the lashes while lengthening them!
Lipstick: Last but not least, red lips! This Lasting Finish By Kate lipstick was the perfect color, and it stayed on forever. After applying that, I used the Stay Glossy 3D gloss on top of it.
And because you’ve most likely been working the grind in an office, chasing kids, or going to class, your hair may be a little frantic. My go to? A messy bun. Somehow, it just all works 🙂
