Today’s post is sponsored by Home Made Simple. As always, all opinions are my own.
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again…You think about things differently when you have kids. You question everything you do; are you doing it right? Is there a better way? Are they eating what they should be? Is it safe? I could go on and on. And for me and I think most parents would agree, the products you’re using in the house become one of the first things you question. I mean, these little humans touch everything and put everything in their mouths.. Including their hands and fingers. So the products you’re using on the surfaces in your home become more important.
Have you heard of Home Made Simple products? They’re a line of plant-based cleaning products that really work. There’s no need for harsh chemicals or a billion ingredients to get the job done efficiently. Which means you don’t have to choose between better products or a clean home.
Here were some of the products we tried and loved:
Home Made Simple Multi-Purpose Cleaner, Lavender Scent- So this was my absolute favorite because 1) I love lavender and 2) you can use it for SO many things. Bathrooms, kitchen, kids rooms, anywhere! (Except unfinished wood) But I love a product that I can use for multiple purposes because hi, busy mom and this makes me life a lot easier.
Home Made Simple Liquid Dish Soap, Lemon Scent: 95% of the ingredients in this product are plant-derived (which is amazing) and I loved the lemon scent for the kitchen! I also put this to the test and it easily scrubbed hamburger grease off our indoor grill… super impressive!
Home Made Simple Laundry Detergent, Lavender Scent– I didn’t put much thought into what I was using to clean my clothes until I had kids. But once I did, I realized how sensitive their brand new skin is (come on they were naked for 10 months in the womb!), so it’s important to use a detergent with gentle ingredients. But, it was also strong enough to clean the clothes and remove stains.
Home Made Simple Liquid Fabric Softener, Unscented– If scented laundry products aren’t your thing, you can also grab the detergent and liquid fabric softener in unscented varietes. When it comes to the baby, especially when she was a newborn, I always preferred to use unscented products, so I love that this was an option with Home Made Simple.
There are so many things I love about these products but the scents have to be one of my favorites. The fresh lavender and lemon scent are much more refreshing than other cleaning products where they smell like chemicals and it feels like it’s burning your nostrils. I mean, that alone is enough to make me want to stop using anything but a plant-based line. And the fact that there are no phosphates, dyes, and the packaging is made from 100% recycled bottles definitely makes me feel better about my decision too.
We can’t shelter our kids or protect them from everything, but by making small changes at home and being more environmentally conscious, we’re taking small steps in the right direction. Small steps that not only keep them and their bodies safe but also help take care of the environment at the same time.
Have you used plant-based household products? Why? What did you think?
