Final days in the DMV

The moving truck comes today. TODAY. Like what? Is this real life?! I don’t think it’s hit me yet because we’ve only been here 6 months. And while I wasn’t fond of the area, there will be things I miss about this chapter in our lives.

The wonderful bloggers here.

Attending fabulous events.

Everything about Old Town.

Duck Donuts, Chuy’s Tex-Mex, and adventures downtown.

And just spending time as a family. The military life can be hard for a lot of reasons but it definitely makes you closer as a family. When you have no one but each other to lean on, it allows for lots of memory making and adventure-seeking.

The past few weeks have been crazy for everyone. We’ve been packing, cleaning, organizing, decluttering, and pretty much haven’t had any sense of routine or normalcy. The kids have been acting uncharacteristically horrific and I know it’s because they can sense everyone’s stress. That and the fact that their toys are all packed away and have been for a few weeks as we’ve been trying to prepare.

But the end is in sight. And I’ve still been trying to do what I can do keep them entertained and enjoy our last few weeks here.

Lady finished up her month of gymnastics and she LOVED it. And now we will have to find her a new gym when we move! We’ve already found her a dance studio (my first dance studio… eek!) and I know of a few gyms in the area so we will be checking those out once we get back.

We headed to the zoo for the last time and it was HOT. And super crowded and ya girl can’t do crowds when I have my kids. Put my in NYC streets all day but throw my kids in and I lose my shit. I just can’t handle them running off (not blaming them, the zoo is exciting) but it’s hard when there are so many people there. But we got in a carousel ride and saw a few of the animals before calling it a day so it was a success.

I entered a Mother’s Day giveaway on Instagram with Illusions of Georgetown and Lady and I won Mommy and Me blowouts! So this week was a perfect time for us to go and unwind 🙂 She was such a big girl and had SO much fun getting pampered. I love doing these types of my things with my little lady <3

The pool has been a lifesaver as we’ve been in transition/survival mode. Look at these little fishies! So happy and carefree aka exactly what summer should be about.

It’s going to be a crazy weekend; the truck will be getting packed and we’ll be roughing it in an empty house but hey, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel right? I never imagined 5 moves in the past 6.5 years of marriage but hopefully, this is the last one. And I am so thankful for the opportunities I’ve had to live in places I probably would have never chosen on my own.

So here’s to our final days in theDMV. Wishing you all a fabulous weekend 🙂 XO
