Family Readiness Groups (FRGs) are put in place to keep the families of soldiers up-to-date on everything going on within the units; upcoming training, events, etc. Yesterday, the commander informed us at our FRG meeting that our husbands would be heading out for a month to train another unit that is deploying soon…aka playing the “bad guys” in the middle of nowhere to get them ready.
Now I’m all for helping others out and properly training our soldiers to be the best they can be, but at the same time, being away from my husband for any reason just plain sucks. There is a slight chance he may not have to go due to a prior commitment, however, knowing the Army and the way things run, I won’t be holding my breath waiting for that wish to be granted.
A month long training at the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) along with a few other training events, mean more time away for the soldiers. And in order to compensate, they’ve given them a few long weekends between then and now. So again, we find ourselves in a four day weekend. Not ideal, but hey, I’ll take what I can get.
On the menu tonight? A healthy version of California Pizza Kitchen’s BBQ Chicken pizza. I promise you will NOT want to miss this one. I don’t really feel like cooking but it’s easy and tastes phenomenal so I’ll suck it up. Check back for that recipe later this evening or tomorrow morning!
My husband’s battalion hosted a Family Fun Day today and I’ve included a few pictures of the little guy and hubby in the Humvee. If my husband and I have anything to do with it, my Bubba will never enlist for real, so he will have to settle for just playing army for now 🙂
Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
