Hair chronicles: Hask Hair

IMG_9648

Taming my hair has always been a struggle. My hair is super thick and while most people would consider it a blessing, I would only half agree. Because having super thick hair makes it really hard when it comes to straightening it, coloring it, and pretty much managing it on a daily basis.

Things changed when I had kids. People always told me my hair would be shiny, thick, and beautiful while pregnant. While I must have been an exception to this rule because my hair was none of those things. Well, besides thick due to having thick hair prior to motherhood. But my hair was, and still is super dry. I only wash my hair every 2-3 days because 1) I don’t have time and 2) I know it’s not good to wash your hair everyday.

Because it’s so dry, I’m always looking for good products to help put moisture back in but also not disrupt my curl. A lot of moisture rich products I’ve tried have left my hair feeling heavy and deactivate my curl. Well we don’t want that do we? No! So when I discovered Hask Hair products, I was excited to put them to the test.

Hask Hair products feature exotic oils from around the world. Their products not only smell amazing and come in adorable packaging, but they’re free of parabens, sulfate, drying alcohols, phthalates, gluten, and artificial dyes. Their products are salon quality but for an affordable price and their lines feature shampoos, conditioners, shine oils, and deep conditioners. Perfect, couldn’t wait to try them!

Macadamia Oil Moisturizing Shampoo: I am obsessed with the scent of this shampoo. It smells absolutely divine and was a totally unexpected scent. I loved the lather and that it didn’t leave my hair craving conditioner. A lot of shampoos leave my hair feeling like straw and needing conditioner to smooth it out. This left my hair feeling silky smooth and I probably could have skipped the conditioner if I wanted. That doesn’t happen with a lot of shampoos I’ve tried, so that was a huge plus.

Macadamia Oil Moisturizing Conditioner: Again, loved the scent. It left my hair so silky smooth and it truly felt softer and more moisturized when touching it.

I used the deep conditioners sparingly so I could really get a good feel for how they were affecting my hair. I found pros and cons with using them. First of all, they left my hair feeling extremely smooth and healthy, what is what they’re meant to do right? But I will say that they felt a little greasy afterwards. And also left my hair too soft to hold the curl. So with that being said, I would recommend using these knowing your hair may feel a little soft and greasy.

If you don’t like the smell of coconut, I would highly suggest not using the Monoi Coconut Oil Deep Conditioner. It’s extremely potent and overwhelming. But it did leave my hair feeling good so it’s a toss up!

It was hard to tell a difference between the other treatments because they all left my hair feeling the same way; smooth, healthy, and moisturized. But like I said, they all left me feeling a little greasy too. Maybe I used too much but don’t say I didn’t warn you if you try these.

I primarily used the shine oils after my hair was dry. I used a very little amount and started with the ends of my hair and worked my way up to the midsection. Never used this stuff on the top of your head, you will look like a grease ball! You can also use it while your hair is wet prior to blow drying or straightening if you do that.

Overall I am super impressed by Hask Hair products. I loved their packaging, product, and price point. You can check out their website here to learn more about them and see the lines of products they carry!
