Today, my seven month old son got his first haircut. Yes, a monumental event for a mother. When I first mentioned Bubba needing a haircut to my husband, this is the response I got:
“I’m sure we could do it while he’s sleeping.”
Was he joking? Oh no, he was completely serious. I love my husband but that is such a guy thing to say. I went on about how I wanted a professional to do it and wanted the cut to have style, not simply chop off his overgrown mohawk that also looked like a 70 year old man’s toupee. He laughed at me when I said I wanted it to have style but all of the women out there know exactly what I was talking about.
My kid didn’t even cry. He was a little confused, maybe a little antsy, but he did not shed a single tear. I think I was closer to shedding a tear than he was, actually. It’s hard for me to believe that he’s growing up so quickly and it’s all down hill from here. He’s already crawling, next it will be standing, then walking and talking and I just can’t fathom my little baby boy doing those things. Where did the time go?
So as some of you may know, my husband had been working on his Warrant Officer packet to become a helicopter pilot. Unfortunately, due to medical reasons, it’s no longer a possibility for us. With that being said, we are currently exploring our options and until then, will be staying in good ole’ Fort Drum.
