Mommy Time

You know those days where you wish you had a stunt double, so you could relax in a bubble bath with a bottle glass of wine and just disappear for a little bit? Yes, it’s been one of those.

Luckily, I was babysitting the cutest doll baby ever and along with my own, they made me smile despite the rest of the crap going on.

I was having a conversation earlier with a friend about the full time job as mommy and wife. I will admit, even I used to think being a stay-at-home mom wasn’t really a job and that anyone that was lucky enough to not work had it made.

Now that I am one, and I’ve said this before, it’s a hard job. You never get a moment to yourself and you’re always worrying about your baby.Even when daddy’s watching them, you text or call to check-in, don’t you? I do. I can’t shower without playing peek-a-boo, eat without having to share with little grab hands, or go to the bathroom without a visitor.

The best part about my day was these two 🙂

Now please understand I’m not complaining; I’m just saying it’s a full time, 24/7 job. I don’t get sick days, I can’t leave early, and I certainly don’t get paid enough (or at all…)

Unless you count the countless hugs, slobbery kisses, or contagious smiles. In that case, I’m as rich as can be.

I love having the opportunity to stay at home with my little one, but remember I’m more than just a mommy and wife…

I’m a writer.
I’m a fashionista wannabe.
I’m a free spirit.
I’m a dancing machine.
I’m a hopeless romantic.
I’m a shower singer.
I’m a shopaholic.
I’m a decent cook.
I’m a sports fan.
I’m a caring friend.
I’m a runner.
I am human.

And just because I’m a mom and wife, doesn’t mean I want or need to give up who I am; now I can just add loving wife and proud mommy to that list.

Keep that in mind and be sure to help your mommy friends out from time to time. Offer to babysit, meet her at the park for a play date, or just talk to her about something else other than kids! As much as she loves talking about her babies, I promise you she’ll appreciate the adult conversation too.

Here’s to snuggling and being the best mommy I can be while at “work”.

Both babies napping on me <3
