Celebrating Thanksgiving with family.

Today’s post is sponsored by Meijer. All opinions are my own

Does anyone ever feel kind of bad for Thanksgiving?! It’s like November 1st and everyone is ready for Christmas. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge Christmas fanatic but this year, I’m in no rush to turn on the Christmas music or start decorating. I want to soak in every last minute of fall I can because Christmas=snow here in Cleveland and mama ain’t ready for that!

I also love Thanksgiving day. I love turning on the parade, checking the Black Friday ads and smelling the turkey and all the fixings cooking all morning. There’s just something about the smells and everyone being home that morning that just makes my heart so happy.

When it comes to Thanksgiving dinner, we tend to keep it pretty casual. Since we used to live out of state, sometimes we would come back to Ohio and other times we’d stay wherever we were. Last year we had dinner at my moms and this year we’re going to my brother and sister-in-laws. But I think there’s something special about cooking at your own house and spending that time together as a family (plus who doesn’t like to have their own stash of leftovers?!) so I wanted to cook our own dinner here too.

Meijer is such a great place to go when it comes to getting all the Thanksgiving goodies because they have everything from the food, paper products (ain’t nobody got time for dishes), clothes for the fam and more. We don’t have a formal dining room (because mama needed a room for all of her things once the baby needed a nursery haha) so this little kitchen nook is our cozy place for dining.

I’m pretty traditional when it comes to Thanksgiving and our menu normally consists of turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, green been casserole, corn and rolls. Is there anything better than the smell of a turkey cooking in the oven?! My personal favorite food of the day is the stuffing and gravy.. which no joke, I could drink it out of the gravy boat! But Meijer carries fresh, quality produce that’s delivered daily and offers such a wide assortment. I know everyone has different traditions and preferences so I love that they offer so many choices for everyone.

While I was there I picked up a new serving tray, electric knife, tablecloth, and a few other household items. They have a great selection of home items for not only seasonal use but all year round!

And of course, I couldn’t forget my favorite wine to pair with our meal. They carry a variety of local wines and beers to go with your meal and accompany you while you sit on the couch and watch football after eating 🙂 After a long day in the kitchen, mama likes to relax a little!

These outfits are also from Meijer and since we tend to keep it more casual, I chose nice and comfy pieces to snuggle up on the couch with!

I love the holidays and making these memories with my little family. I hope they look back on their childhood one day and remember how much love surrounded our table during this season and always.

What do you love about Thanksgiving? What are your favorite foods and traditions?
