How to navigate a new city with ease.

Raise your hand if you get really flustered when it comes to following directions while driving? I get a little nervous driving in big cities, especially when I have NO idea where I’m going. Put me in downtown Cleveland and I’m fine. I worked down there and I’ve been down there enough to have a general idea of where I am. Navigating Washington, D.C. on the other hand? Yea. No clue.

One of the scariest things about driving in the city is the insane amount of traffic. People warned me about the traffic in D.C. but it’s not even just there. I live on the Virginia side and I literally can’t go anywhere without getting stuck in traffic.

ANNNNNNNNOOOOYINNGGG. But it is what it is and we won’t be here much longer sooooo I’ve learned to deal. What can you do?

But since we’ve been here, I’ve been using my Navdy and it’s been SUCH a help.

What is Navdy?

Navdy is a “portable, next generation head-up display that leverages augmented reality to project information like maps, messages, emails, app notifications, music and car data directly in the driver’s line of sight.”

Navigating a new city with ease. Navdy makes your life easier while keeping you safe.

How does it work?

The device is mounted to my dashboard and a projector projects a map onto the Portable Head-Up Screen. This allows me to focus on the road and keep a map at eye-level. No looking back and forth at my phone or the car navigation.

Once you download the Navdy app, you just need to put in the address of where you’re going and boom, on the screen it goes!

Need to ignore a call? Switch a song? Find a gas station? You can do all of these things HANDS-FREE so that you never have to take your eyes off the road or hands off the wheel. It makes me feel so much better about driving in an unknown area or really, driving in general.

It does take a few minutes to get used to having your car’s center console information, the dashboard data, and the info from your phone all projected in one place as if it’s floating over the road ahead.. I never really looked through the screen but rather glanced at it for reference, still allowing me to keep my eyes on the road since the screen is transparent.

Driving downtown or in a new place in general can be super scary and intimidating. But thankfully there are ways to stay safe and calm in the process 🙂 You can find out more about Navdy here. Happy navigating!
