Mid-week vacay update

Halfway through the week and boy am I tired! I know you’re supposed to rest up and recharge on vacation but I’ve been doing anything but that. Everyone keeps yelling at me and telling me to relax but I just haven’t had the chance to. I’ve been working (a lot), gone to a work conference, had a photoshoot, and been chasing my gremlins around like crazy. I love being on the lake but it also means watching them extra carefully to make sure they don’t fall in. Put someone with anxiety and kids near a lake (or pool) and watch what happens.

We started our trip last Tuesday and stopped in Kentucky to see my BFF Whitney. We spent the day in the kiddie pool, pigging out, and catching up. You don’t realize how much you really miss someone until you don’t see them everyday. We had originally planned a hotel for the night but after we realized all 4 dogs got along, we ended up just staying at her house. We did a little spa night and had a few adult beverages after the kids went to bed and caught them up on The Real O’Neals. If you haven’t seen that show yet, do it.

We headed to Starbucks and the playground for a little the next morning and then hit the road again. We pulled into my parents house around dinnertime and actually beat everyone else home! We all had dinner together and then hit the hay early.

The next morning we woke up and ran a few errands with my mom, and then came back for a little boat cruise with our friends. We spent the afternoon sunning and swimming, even when it started to downpour. The kids were having an absolute blast though and were definitely tired by the end of the day. My Nana stopped over to see the kids (how cute is she?) and then we laid low the rest of the evening. Had a big day in the morning!

We woke up bright and early Friday and drove to Chicago and you can catch that weekend recap here.

Monday we went to Wildwater Kingdom with my mom, brother, soon-to-be-sister-in-law, and one of our family friends. There was a wave pool, “toilet bowl” slide, body slides, a giant jungle gym with a ton of slides, and more. The kids fell asleep on the way home and continued to sleep for three hours, so I would say they had a good time.

Yesterday we went to Target (again) and then met our family friends at a pool. We’ve had such amazing weather and have literally been swimming and out in the sun everyday we’ve been here. The kids are getting spoiled and aren’t going to know what to do when we go home! We capped the night off with a visit from family and some fishing, and let it be known that I beat my husband 9 to 5. And don’t worry, we throw all of the fish back!

Today we’re heading to the beach (again) and having some more family over. The rest of the week has been loosely planned out so I’ll recap all of that when we get back to Georgia!
