Last night, for the first time in a long time, I sat down and read some of my favorite blogs on Bloglovin‘. I used to read blogs religiously but life got in the way and I was only able to read 2-3 a day…on a good day. But when I sat down last night and started going through my Bloglovin’ roll, I realized how much I’ve missed it. That I love blogs for so many reasons and reading all of these other blogs almost made me fall in love with blogging all over again.
Blogging has changed a lot since I began 4.5 years ago. I’ve talked about it before but it went from online journaling to an online business. But despite this being “work”, I still like to treat it like a journal too. Because wasn’t that the reason I started it in the first place? And while I have posts that are tutorials and more “Pinterest-worthy” than others, this place is still a journal for me. It’s still a place for me to update my weekend antics or pour my heart out when I need to. And as I was scrolling through the blogs in my feed last night, I realized something.
I’m connected to the person behind the blog. That most of the blogs I stopped on were bloggers I’ve been following for years. Even when they post sponsored content I still find myself reading their posts and supporting them because I love anything they write! And as I’m looking to find new blogs, I’m looking for blogs with personality. I want to know about their lives and their passions. I want to know they struggle and they’re not perfect. I want to see what they wear and where it’s from but I want some sort of story to go along with the pictures. I want to know the blogger.
I read blogs for a lot of reasons and think you should too. Why?
Because some bloggers are hilarious.
Because some bloggers share issues we don’t want to talk or hear about but we need to.
Because some bloggers are super creative and can give you amazing ideas.
Because some bloggers know where to find the best deals.
Because some bloggers are the bombdotcom at doing makeup and offer tips.
Because some bloggers go on crazy adventures and it’s fun to see the world through them.
Because some bloggers are in different stages of life than we are and it’s fun to see their perspective.
Because some bloggers are great storytellers.
But all bloggers share one thing in common. Passion. We’re all putting ourselves out there because we love doing what we do. We love sharing our lives and connecting with other bloggers around the world. We love when non-bloggers share our posts because it means they really liked them! We love connecting with our readers and hearing feedback. We love trying new things but also love sticking with what we know. Sure we like to get paid and love the pageviews but it’s more than that. So much more than that. And as I was reading all of these blogs last night I realized how important reading other blogs is to me. For personal growth, for career growth, and if nothing else, because it’s fun.
So that’s why I read blogs and why you should too 🙂
What are some of your favorite blogs to follow? Why do you read blogs?
