Basketball tournaments are sweet.

I don’t want to rub this in anyone’s face or toot my horn BUT… I was the winner of college basketball’s favorite tournament a couple years back. Yes, I won it all. No, I knew nothing about college basketball or how to chose a bracket. But I guess that wasn’t an issue.. right??

We’re all about throwing parties here and always find a reason to throw one. So with our favorite tourney right around the corner, we’re planning on throwing the ultimate basketball bash. Because most people just pick at the food while watching the games, I wanted to stick to easy dishes and appetizers… and of course dessert!
We love Skittles and I had been dying to bring one of my fabulous ideas to life. Remember Dunkaroos? Well I decided to create a similar recipe but with Skittles. And with two simple ingredients, it left me with plenty of time to focus on other delicious snacks for the party.

Skittles Dessert Dip:
1 container creamy vanilla icing
1 cup Skittles
Graham crackers, animal crackers, pretzels, etc for dipping
And that’s it! I included Honey Graham Crackers, Cinnamon Graham Crackers, Animal Crackers, and pretzels for dipping. I think my personal favorite was the Skittles Dessert Dip and Cinnamon Graham Crackers… it was seriously such a good combo. And the pretzel dippers were the perfect mix for salty and sweet. You can of course add more Skittles if you want, depending on your preference!

Sam’s Club has an in-store pallet with Skittles and I don’t think it’s possible to walk by and NOT get some.. am I right or am I right? So with the 54 oz bag I bought, I decided I needed to use them for another recipe for the party!People are going to get thirsty at the party right? So obviously we need something to sip on while watching the games.

Skittles Spritzer:

Ice cube trays
Fill the ice cube trays half way. Add 5-6 Skittles to each ice cube slot. Freeze overnight.
Fill glass with regular ice, thne Skittle ice (2-3 cubes per glass).
Pour Sprite on top of ice.

I dressed them up with basketball straws and served them in Mason Jars. I also added these little tags with basketball lingo for some extra fun!
The bottom of your tray will look something like this when you pop the ice cubes out, which is good! Most of the candy pieces stay in the tray and just the flavor makes its way to the drink :)We are super excited for the tournament to begin and can’t wait to celebrate with friends. Watching basketball is always better when surrounded by friends and a colorful spread. Make basketball sweeter and throw a party!

Do you watch the tournament?! Who is your favorite team?
