Ways to save money on your monthly cell phone bill

Today’s post on ways to save money on your monthly cell phone bill is sponsored by Ting Mobile. All opinions are my own.

Ways to save money on your monthly cell phone bill: nothing worse than a super high cell phone bill, am I right?! Here are a few solutions to keep your bill low, low, low....

Do you remember your first cellphone? I had a Nokia “Brick” with a real antenna. You had to push the letters a few times to text, but I thought it would charge me per letter so I never really did it much anyways. People actually talked on the PHONE back then… crazy right!? Also, no internet. Strictly for phone calls, yo.

When Z and I got married and we had to start our own plan (boo for adulting), I just stayed on the same network that my parents used. It’s all I had ever known and I thought it would just be easiest. I never bothered to shop around or educate myself on other networks and carriers because change is scary, right?!

Have you heard of Ting Mobile? Instead of having a set bill with the same charges every month, you only pay for what you use. How cool is that?! Seriously, my bill puts a damper on my month when it comes out because it seems so absurdly high.

Want to know what the average bill is with Ting? $23. WHAT!? Let’s just say my current bill is pushing $200. It probably has to do with the fact that I blow through data like it’s my job. Oh wait, because it is…

There are also no contracts and you can BYOD (bring your own device), so you’re not tied to anything. I love the flexibility because let’s be honest, things change and situations change.

Some more ways to save money on your monthly cell phone bill?

Connect to wi-fi whenever possible.

Close all apps when you’re not using them.

Know your usage. Check to see what you’re doing that takes up the most space/data.

Use a network like Ting where you only pay for what you use.

Take breaks! Go technology-free on the weekends or in the evening. I need to take my own advice on this one…

I’ll always have a love/hate relationship with my cellphone. But knowing there are ways to keep the cost down and still have great service makes me feel a lot better.
