Pregnant Swag: It’s all about it stripes {Week 5}

Dressing fashionable while pregnant can be quite tricky. When I was pregnant with Bubba, I felt like nothing caught my eye and when it did, it wasn’t comfortable and I hated how I looked in it.

So that my friends, is why I’m bringing you a mini series for the next few weeks titled…

Each week I will be featuring different websites and companies and putting looks together for the mamas-to-be! A lot of being comfortable when pregnant is very mental; when you look better, you feel better. When I was pregnant with Bubba, I slummed around in t-shirts and sweatpants (which is fine sometimes) but the days I dressed up and looked my best, I felt my best.

This week, I wanted to talk about stripes. I was reading the most recent InStyle magazine and they had a whole feature on how stripes aren’t as bad of a thing as most people make
them out to be. People assume stripes will make you look larger but in all reality, it just depends on the piece.

I received this dress from Shabby Apple; did you know they have a maternity line?! To be honest with you, I thought this dress would fit a lot differently than it did. I expected it to be a little tighter and it felt a little like wearing a bed sheet. I did order it a size bigger to accompany my growing belly but I still think it’s just the type of dress it is.

Because it made me feel bigger than I really am, I decided to pair it with a jean vest and belt to try different looks. This gave me a little more shape and broke the dress up rather than looking like one big piece.

Stripes don’t have to be as scary as you might think; if you don’t feel comfortable in them, try adding different accessories or other clothing pieces to reach a different look. And if you haven’t checked out Shabby Apple, be sure to do so! I love the vintage feel of their dresses and they offer a huge selection of different styles and cuts.
What fashion risks are you afraid to take?!
