There are few things in life better than the perfect ugly Christmas sweater. I started collecting ugly Christmas sweaters a few years ago when we had the brilliant idea to throw a party. Little did I know it would be the same night Z would propose to me but that’s a story for a different blog post.
But it seems as though corny sweaters are all the rage around the holidays; the tackier the sweater, the better the party. I love fixing quick snacks for holiday parties but am always stumped on what to bring.

It seems as though every time we go to a Christmas party or adult party of any matter, there aren’t any options for kids. Now that Nolan is old enough to need real food that’s not mashed up into a liquid substance, I have to make sure there are healthy options but also options he will actually eat. As much as I want to say my child is some star child who only eats healthy foods, he’s not perfect and still loves “kid” foods.

So to meet in the middle and compromise, I try and provide him with healthy options in addition to the typical kid foods. While thinking of ideas to bring to our parties this holiday season, I thought it would be fun to make Kid-Friendly Corn Dog Kabobs. I picked up this club pack of 30 Country Ribbon at Sam’s Club along with grapes, string cheese, peppers, and clementines. The possibilities are endless but these are a few of Bubba’s favorite foods.

I cooked the corn dogs according to the package instructions, let them cool, and slid them off the sticks. I cut them into pieces and then reassembled them onto the stick with the other ingredients.

Because I had so many pieces leftover, I picked up a big of pretzel sticks and stuck them in the corn dog slices, served them along with sides of ranch, honey mustard, and BBQ sauces and voila! A great snack for kids and adults alike!

And just because I’ve never been more excited about a corny Christmas sweater, I had to share the sweater Nolan will be wearing this year. Home Alone, the best movie of all time, has provided me with this little gem.
Sam’s Club is demoing these Country Ribbon Corn Dogs December 12th and 13th so if you’re in the area of a store, you should probably rock your corniest sweater and check them out.
There’s also a contest on the Club Tyson Facebook page in which you can win the ultimate corny Christmas sweater. Just like the image they put up each day and you’re automatically entered 🙂
What kid-friendly recipes do you have for the holiday season?!
